Roman Olivares Medina was born on February 28,1962 in Morelos, Mexico. He was the 4th child of Quirino Aviles Olivares and Celedonia Medina Andres. They lived in Morelos, Mexico and later moved to Iguala, Guerrero.
Roman worked most of his life in agriculture. He spent many years working from farm to farm throughout the Yakima Lower Valley. He worked from harvesting hops to picking apples, grapes, and cherries.
In May of 1983 Roman met Maria F. Aviles and married her that same year. Eventually they had 8 children. This year Roman and Maria would be celebrating their 38th wedding anniversary.
Roman was a remarkably generous person with a big heart. He was a person that always found a way to help those in need, always putting friends and family first. His warmth and beautiful colored eyes attracted people to him.
Above all, the most important thing for Roman was his family. He loved and cared for all his children and 19 grandchildren.

Roman is survived by his 8 children Esperanza Aviles, Rosa Aviles, Veronica Aviles, Luis Aviles, Vanessa Aviles, Esmeralda Aviles, Manuel Aviles, Leslie Aviles. His 19 grandchildren Jaime Lopez, SR David Lopez, Verenice Aviles, Candelaria & Amalia Carranza, Zeyli & Deniz Reyna, Aeden Aviles, Mariela Gonzalez, Janeli Perea, Gael Lopez, Shamira Gonzalez, Davian Lopez, Juan Perea Jr, Jaylee Perea, Mackenzie Lopez, Makayla Gonzalez, Roman Gonzalez. His father,Quirino Aviles Olivares, and his 5 siblings, Irene Aviles, Juana Aviles, Magdaleno Olivares, Reyna Olivares, and Eva Aviles.
His family thanks everyone who was part of his life. He will be greatly missed but we are relieved he is no longer in pain.
Viewing and Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Prosser, WA. Burial will follow at the East Prosser Cemetery.
