Obituary for Rosaura “Chita” M. Garza 

Mabton, Washington,  

Rosaura “Chita” M. Garza, age 97, of Mabton, Washington passes away peacefully on June 11, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. 

Rosa was born on September 2, 1927, in Mission, Texas to Juanita Salinas and Pablo Moreno.  She was raised in Texas prior to moving to Washington in the 1940’s.  In 1949 she married the love of her life Santos Garza in Ellensburg, Washington.  Together they moved to Sunnyside to raise their growing family, eventually welcoming five children.  A devoted wife, and mother, Rosa worked at Hillcrest Manor as a CNA and spent many years also working at Independence warehouse, then finishing her working career before retiring from Kinsey Farms. 

She is proceeded in death by her husband Santos, her parents Juanita and Pablo, her son Eliazar, her great grandson Michael Gonzalez, and all her brothers and sisters.   She is survived by her children Elena (Juan) of Moxee, Ely (Tina) of California, Ed (Marcy) of Outlook, and Elisa (Andy) of Mabton, her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 17th at the Grandview Church of the Nazarene (500 N Elm St. Grandview, WA) at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.  Reception to follow at Grandview Church of the Nazarene.  Those wishing to sign Rosa’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com Smith Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.
