Roy Del Rio Palomarez passed away suddenly on January 2, 2022 surrounded by family. Born to David Palomarez & Maria Del Rio on July 10, 1948. One of 13 children, born and raised in Sunnyside, WA. Roy married Tomasa (Blanca) Lopez on September 31, 1966. They maintained their roots in Sunnyside and raised their 3 children, Rebecca, Maria and Roy. In addition to being a long-haul trucker, Roy joined the Laborers Union Local 348 in July of 1977. He was a member of the laborers until his health declined and was forced to retire in February 1996. Regardless of his ailments, he continued to work on his farm which was his pride and joy. He worked so hard up until his health conditions kept him from continuing himself. At that time, he still got great pleasure watching his kids and other family members keeping up with the work for him to keep up with his legacy. Roy endured multiple open-heart surgeries, lung surgeries, double leg amputee and a kidney transplant. He never complained regardless how much pain he was in. Some people said that he may never walk again. Not only did he walk, he DANCED. He always managed to put a smile on his face. Roy fought diabetes for many years. He fought to live and was the ultimate survivor.
Most days Roy could be found sitting outside on the patio listening to his music. Outside is where he would rather be. He would sit for hours watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. Roy absolutely loved to laugh and make jokes. His laughter was infectious. He was notorious for giving anyone and everyone a nickname. If you weren’t given a nickname or given a hard time, he probably didn’t like you. Roy absolutely loved his Thursday nights. Anyone who knows him knows he could be found at The Eagles for Karaoke night. Music has always been a huge part of his life.
Roy is survived by his wife, Blanca. Daughters- Becky Sambrano (Luis) and Maria Palomarez. Only son, Roy Palomarez (Andrea). Brothers- Wally Palomarez, Rudy Palomarez (Lenor), Nick Palomarez and Ruben Palomarez (Peggy). Sisters-Carol Rivas (Rey), Margie Arteaga and Nora Palomarez. 11 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, David & Maria Palomarez. Brothers John D. Palomarez, Manual Palomarez, David Palomarez & Tony Palomarez. Sister, Suzie Palomarez. Grandson, Dylan Roy Palomarez. Grandaughter, Jacalyn Palomarez.
Roy, the world has gotten a whole lot smaller without you in it.
