Sara (Acosta) Rios passed away into the loving arms of her Father in heaven surrounded by her family on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Astria Toppenish Hospital at the age of 61. She was born to the late Rev. Vicente Acosta and Maria Aguirre Acosta on August 5, 1960 in Independence, OR. The family moved to the Yakima Valley and settled in the small town of Granger, WA where she was raised and completed her education.
Sara loved everyone and she always gave them a special nickname. She was funny, kind and had the biggest heart you can imagine. She gave even when she couldn’t and she opened her home to anyone that was in need of a place to stay. She loved animals and caring for the wounded that always seemed to find her. Most of all, Sara had a great love for her grandchildren and the “adopted” grandchildren that she cared for since they were babies.
Sara met the love of her life later in her years. Damien and Sara shared a unique friendship and love because they were both of the same mind and they loved to share with others their food, house and kindness.
Sara leaves behind three sons and one daughter; Jerry Rios Jr., Nicole Rocha (Andy), Abilio Rocha IV, (Denise) and Michael Acosta (Ana). She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Isabella, Valentina, Serenity, Mikey Jr., Jeremiah, and Noel and her siblings Santiago Acosta, John (Mary) Acosta, Vicente (Elaine) Acosta, Lupe Rodriguez, Mary (Tony) Rocha, Romana (Carlos) Flores, Maggie Rocha, Daniel (Carol) Acosta, Deb Escamilla, Nora (Bernardo) Flores, Anita (Raymond) Navarro, Amada (Ernie) DelaGarza, Hope (Roel) Solis, Gloria (Chico) Aranda. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jesse Acosta, nieces Glatoria (Star) Aranda, Raquel Acosta, nephews Johnny Acosta Jr., and Jesse Acosta Jr.
