Shirley Hill Obituary

On February 20, 2025 our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, Shirley M. Hill went to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father. Shirley was born on February 27, 1939 in McCook, Nebraska. The daughter of Crystal (Wilson) and Frank Pettey.

Due to her father’s work the Pettey family traveled throughout the western states and that’s were Shirley received her education.

Sixty-Nine years ago, she met the love of her life Donald Leroy Hill in Sunnyside, Wa. and married soon after in Grandview, Wa. They made their home in Sunnyside, and this is where they raised their children. They also cared for many foster children that authorities knew needed a loving home. These kids come from miles around and knew that Shirley and Don would make everything ok. To this day some of these kids still call them mom and dad. Shirley and Don owned and operated Cliffs Septic Service in Sunnyside before moving to Union Gap, Wa. and continued to operate their business. Shirley enjoyed traveling and went on cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. She and Don celebrated her 62nd birthday in Hawaii, just to name a few trips. Shirley also loved to fish, work in her yard and create beautiful landscapes. Shirley, Don and Karla liked to spend a little time at the Casino on Sunday mornings for breakfast and fun. Shirley loved the holidays; you could always expect the decorations to be over the top.

She loved shopping for herself and spending on others as well. We kids learned early on that you never mentioned how much you liked something because it was guaranteed she would be buying it and surprising you.

Shirley is survived by her beloved husband Donald L. Hill of Union Gap, Wa. Children Joyce Dalrymple (John) of Sunnyside Wa, Mary Bos (Aaron) of Monroe Wa, Trava Hill (Mike DeLuna) of Yakima Wa. She is Also survived by 14 grandchildren, Michael Dalrymple (Stephanie), Bryan Dalrymple (Cristina), Joshua Dalrymple (Hannah), Johnathan Dalrymple, Abigail Bos, Zachariah Bos, Shiloh Potter, Colton Hill, Ashton Hill, Odessa Hill, Gatling Hill, Nathen Hill, Joyce DeLuna, Madyson DeLuna, 10 great grandchildren, Brianna, Andrew, Steven, Jace, Inis, Rose, Stanton, Silas, Johnny, Layla and babies Landon and Benjamin on the way, Two sisters-in-law Ilse Pettey, Evelyn Franklin, one brother-in-law Albert Hill, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley is preceded in death by her son Stanton Hill, daughter Karla Hill, grandson Christopher Dalrymple, five brothers Claude Pettey, Clifford Pettey, David Pettey, Frank Pettey and Joe Pettey, sisters Betty Delp and Ila Hill.

We the family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Aveanna Healthcare and the many caregivers who cared for Shirley over the last few years. A very special thank you to Blanca Herrera and Josefina Garcia for your love and compassion. We are forever grateful to you.
