Silverio Gonzalez Obituary

June 20, 1941 - August 26, 2021

Silverio (Silvo) M. Gonzalez, age 80, our beloved brother, uncle and a long-time resident of Grandview, WA passed away peacefully at Avalon Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pasco, WA on August 26, 2021.

He was born June 20, 1941 in Edinburg, Texas.  As a young man, he migrated from Texas to Washington to work in the fields.  He made a permanent home in Grandview to be close to his family.  He ended his 30 year career as an Agricultural Machine Operator for Airfield Estates Winery in Prosser, WA.

As a young man he developed an interest in cars.  He always enjoyed having new cars and always took great pride in maintaining them in mint condition.  This interest continued throughout his life.  He also enjoyed sports, especially the New York Yankees and playing cards with friends. Silvo will always be remembered as a very quiet, independent hardworking man.

Silvo is survived by three sisters:  Maria de la luz (Carlos)Trevino, Clara M. Salas, Maria M. Gonzalez and many nephews and nieces.

Silvo is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Emeteria Gonzalez, sister, Maria (Chela) Gonzalez and five brothers Jose Gonzalez, Alfredo Gonzalez, Francisco Gonzalez, Benito Gonzalez and Roberto Gonzalez.

We express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to Avalon Health & Rehabilitation Center in Pasco, Washington for their Compassion and Care of our Beloved Brother and Uncle.  A  Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Grandview, WA.  Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery.  Those wishing to sign Silverio’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com   Smith Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
