Susan Kae Holmes Munn passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025 at her home in South Jordan, Utah, following a long and courageous journey with chronic health challenges. As her medical needs became increasingly complex, the time came for her pain to end. She met that moment with courage, quiet strength, and unwavering hope.
Susan was born on May 10, 1947, in Nyssa, Oregon, to Gilbert Holmes and Ailene Hendricks Holmes. She was the second of four daughters and a twin to her sister, Sally. Susan grew up in Nyssa, where she attended Nyssa High School and graduated in 1965.
Susan met her husband, Duane Munn, at a baseball game. He often said she was the prettiest woman he had ever met and was drawn to her zest for life and spunky personality. They were married on August 31, 1967, in the Idaho Falls Temple and shared 58 years of marriage.
Together, Susan and Duane raised five children: Julie, Brandon, Wrendie, Shane, and Jeni. In the early years of their marriage, they lived on a farm in Adrian, Oregon carrying forward a farming legacy that had shaped generations of our family. In 1976 Duane and Susan moved to Prosser, Washington, where they developed farmland and created Sun Heaven Farms with their partners…Lorin and Fay Munn, Robert and Larna Munn, Clyde and Gay Bybee, Brent and Berniel Hartley and Brent and Eliane Schulthies. Susan was a devoted wife, mother, and partner, supporting Duane in every aspect of farm life while raising their family.
Susan was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She diligently fulfilled each and every calling. She especially loved working with the youth and would find joy in talking to them, laughing and being present.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Ailene Holmes, her mother and father-in-law, Lorin and Fay Munn, her twin sister Sally Walker, brother-in-law Glenn Walker and her younger sister Jolene Wilson. She is survived by her beloved husband, Duane Munn, her 5 children, 21 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren soon to be born. She is also survived by her dear sister, Sondra Walker.
Susan will be remembered for her courage, strength, deep faith, generous heart, and the love she shared so freely with her family and all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, with a viewing at 10:30 and the funeral proceedings at 12:00 p.m. at the Prosser LDS Church, located at 1835 Highland Drive, Prosser, Washington. Interment will follow at the East Prosser Cemetery.
