On Friday, November 7th Syndi ended her year long struggle with cancer surrounded by loved ones.
Syndi grew up in Wenatchee with a house full of sisters and one brother. Being the oldest, she was her father’s “favorite son” until her younger brother came along. From an early age, she developed a love of horses, often riding into the hills above her home to spend the day exploring. In later years, she found Jumping Jack Splash, her appaloosa who meant the world to her and who carried her through many clinics, rides, and adventures.
She spent her career working with special needs children in places as far flung as Bickleton, Wapato, and Prosser. She worked for and earned her master’s and doctorate in education, serving for many years as the special education director in the Prosser school district.
Throughout her life and career, she exemplified kindness and had a knack for seeing the real person behind the behaviors. She often commented that the students she served were just like her. She touched many people’s lives with her caring compassion and insight.
Syndi is survived by her mother Maureen Bonham, her sons Jeremiah and Dakota, and her daughter Sarah, as well as her four grandchildren, and her husband Bryce.
