Thomas Eugene McCloud

November 26, 1933 - February 11, 2024

Thomas Eugene McCloud “Gene” joined his lord in savior in heaven on February 11, 2024. Gene was the oldest of 9, born to parents Charles Thomas McCloud and Louise Estelle McCloud (Halliburton) on November 26, 1933 in Macon TN.

Gene worked at the brick yard in Granger, WA until it closed. Then he went to work for the Toppenish Hospital where he worked as a custodian and then a laundry supervisor he retired after 42 years. In his retirement, he found joy volunteering his time at the various foodbanks in Sunnyside.

Gene loved sports he enjoyed playing baseball as a child and young adult, and became an umpire when his son Steve played ball for many years. He would watch the Mariners any chance he got. He was a member of the Sunnyside bowling league for several years. Gene spent a lot of his time at Sunnyside Baptist Church where he would attend services, clean, mow the lawn and help with anything else that needed done. He had a strong connection to his faith in the lord and devoted his life to him and the church. Gene was always offering a helping hand to anyone in need.

Gene is survived by His wife of 37 years Dorothy McCloud of Sunnyside, WA. His son Steve McCloud of Ilwaco, WA. His Daughter's Sandra Hamper of Odessa, WA. and Lynn Groves of Outlook, WA. Also 3 stepchildren, Theresa Reel of Seattle WA, Sherry Scott of Seattle and Mike Scott of Richland, WA. His siblings Melbalene Davis of TN, Barbara Andrews of TN, Glen McCloud of Finley, WA and Marlene Pritchett of Yakima, WA. Gene is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Harold and Tony McCloud, 2 sisters Loretta Bray and Colleen McCloud, His First wife Frances Elizabeth McCloud and his daughter Marianne McCloud.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Tranquility Adult Family Home for the sincere care they showed Gene in his last weeks of life.
