Thomas Len Nygaard was born on September 19, 1952 in Goldendale, WA to Alfred T. and Vera M. Nygaard. He passed away on July 1, 2026 at his home in the Bickleton, WA area.
Thomas graduated from Bickleton High School in 1970. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1970-1974. He was stationed in Alaska for a time, and then in Florida. After returning home to Bickleton he worked at Mercer Ranches and H.O. Wilsons. He also worked as a ranch hand for Powers Ranches, drove cement truck in California for a time, and then moved to the west side of Washington state and worked until his retirement at Baker Commodities in Tukwila in 2016. He moved back to Bickleton in the Spring of 2016 and resided there until his death.
Thomas was an avid hunter and reader. He especially liked time spent telling “stories” and reminiscing about days gone by, with his brothers and friends!
He was involved with the Alder Creek Pioneer Picnic Rodeo for many years. He enjoyed Team Penning.
His greatest enjoyment was time spent with his son Christopher.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Vera Nygaard.
He is survived by his son Christopher Nygaard of Bickleton, his brothers
Clifford (Patsy) of Bickleton, Ted (Patty) of Oakesdale, and Ken (Kim) of Benton City and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his family and all his friends.
Graveside Inurnment Service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 12:00 p.m.at the Cleveland Cemetery. Memorial Lunch will follow at the Church Fellowship Hall in Bickleton, WA. Donations may be made to the Alder Creek Pioneer Picnic Association in Bickleton, WA.
