Thomas George Juris,95, of Bickleton Washington, died February 11, 2025 at Sunnyside Assisted Living surrounded by his family.
Tom was born April 27, 1929, in Sunnyside WA. to George and Weino (Saari) Juris. He spent his early years growing up with his brother Robert (Bob) on their wheat farm in Bickleton, WA. and attended the Bickleton Elementary and High Schools. Upon graduation Tom attended Washington State College, (now WSU). Graduating with a degree in agriculture in 1952.
Having met at a community gathering in Bickleton as teens, Tom began dating Helen Hufnail, of Mabton WA while both were attending WSC. After his graduation they were married on July 6, 1952. Tom served in the US Army for two years, including a position as a cryptographer in Fountainbleau, France, after which the couple returned to the Bickleton area where they took over the operation of the family wheat farm. Tom and Helen raised their four children on the farm and remained involved in the operation as it transitioned to their son Ron, and then grandson Andy. Tom was an active member of the Bickleton community serving on the Bickleton School Board, The Yakima/Klickitat Wheat Growers Assn., The Alder Creek Grange, the Bickleton Odd Fellows Lodge, the Alder Creek Pioneer Assn., and the board of directors of Klickitat Valley Bank.
Tom is survived by his wife Helen, children Ronald Juris (Kathy), of Bickleton WA, Marjorie Juris, of Plains, MT, and Carol Juris (Doug Hunter), of Olympia, WA, grandchildren Andrew Juris (Jenifer), and Lacie Gevaert (Mark), and great-grandchildren Lincoln and Grace Gevaert. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Weino Juris, his brother Bob Juris (Beverly), and his daughter Ruth Juris.
A family inurnment service will be held later in the spring at the Bickleton IOOF Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alder Creek Pioneer Association Memorial Fund at PO Box 116, Bickleton, WA 99322.
