V. Harold Lee Obituary

V. Harold Lee passed away on December 22, 2024 in Yuma Arizona at the age of 99.

Harold was born on September 4, 1925 in Moscow, Idaho to Jerome Lee Jr and Theoda P. Corin Lee.  He was raised in Sunnyside WA and attended school there.  Harold entered the United States Navy in 1942 at the age of 17 and served until 1945.  He enlisted a 2nd time in 1950 and served until 1953.

Harold loved to fish and spent most of his time on the water reeling those big ones in when he wasn't working at Jerry's Steel Supply with his Dad.

Harold married Irene Alice Autrand on April 4, 1958 and they made their home in Sunnyside.  Harold and Irene loved to travel and spent a lot of time on the road.  They would go to Alaska in the summers where he spent his time fishing and then would go to the lower 48 in the winter months.  In 1992 they drove from Alaska to Mexico and ended up staying Lo de Marcos, Nayarit Mexico until 2017 when Irene's health concerns made them move to Arizona to be closer to family.  After Irene passed away in May 2022, Harold moved to a retirement home and lived independently until after his 98th birthday.  After he got COVID on Christmas 2023 his health began to decline and he moved into a skilled nursing facility until his death.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife Irene Alice Autrand Lee in May 2022, parents Jerome and Theoda Lee, brother Robert E. Lee and sister Geraldine Mitchell.  He is survived by his daughter Becky (Dallas) Hughes of Yuma Arizona, son J. Craig (Cathy) Lee of Yakima WA, grandchildren Amy Lee Hobert and Dallas Roy Hughes of Wasilla Alaska, Gretchin Peterson-Lee of Yakima, great grandchildren Kaylani Jade Hughes of Federal Way, WA, Dallas R.Hughes, Ashley L. Hughes, Miller Lee Hughes and Charlotte D.Hughes all of Wasilla, AK and Brady Peterson -Lee of Yakima, WA.

The ashes of Harold and Irene will be together at Sunnyside Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA. Those wishing to sign Harold’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com
