We are humbled to announce the passing of Yvonne "Bonnie" Rosberg, who passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 95.

Born in Spokane, Washington, on December 2, 1930, to Edwin Mayne Cole and Pearl Mize, Bonnie was one of nine children and grew up to become an indelible force. A woman of sharp, unsparing wit and unapologetic presence, she lived life entirely on her own terms. A 1948 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, Washington, she trained as a skilled typist and eventually went on to work at the Hanford Nuclear Site in Richland, WA. While taking lessons in stand-up bass, Bonnie met Alfred Rosberg, a jazz musician and instructor. Their lessons turned into a lifelong partnership, and the two were married in 1951. Together they raised two daughters, Tracie and Debra, who were the pride of Bonnie's life.

Bonnie was a formidable, complex, and multi-faceted woman. She possessed a caustic humor that could pierce the heart of any situation, matched by an enduring familial loyalty and acts of spontaneous generosity, often sending unexpected little gifts just "for candy" or "a treat." While she could test the patience of those around her, her loyalty to family during hard times was absolute, as was her vocal and enduring faith in Jesus Christ, often parting ways with her reminder: "Stay well, stay safe, stay close to Jesus."

Her most uncomplicated affection was for dogs, especially her beloved Pomeranians and long-haired Chihuahua mixes. She loved to celebrate life's milestones, whether with full holiday spreads or uncomplicated yet perfect sandwiches. In her quieter moments, she rarely turned down a good cup of coffee, a game of Pinochle or Solitaire, or an episode of The Waltons.

She leaves behind a family that learned resilience and how to move through life’s contradictions. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred. She is survived by her daughters, Tracie Ojakangas and Debra Mesher; her grandchildren, Robert LaFramboise, Lisette La Framboise, Kieran Ojakangas, Celka Ojakangas, and Lian Ojakangas; her great-grandson, Henry Cardenas; her nephew, Keith Larson, and his wife, Kay Larson; and her cherished friend, Terry Jones.

Given her long life and the small number of surviving loved ones who could attend, no formal funeral service will be held. She will rest at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA, beside her devoted husband, Alfred.

In memory of Bonnie and in reverence for these words from Scripture: "Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor" (Zechariah 7:9–10), memorial contributions may be made to Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), an organization providing legal defense and protection for unaccompanied immigrant children.
