So many wonderful memories of one of the best men I have encountered in my travels. An example of firm love and concern for those in need and a softness not seen by all. A friend for eternity and one who set a standard I will continue to strive for. Will miss the evenings sharing a good meal and all the happenings in our families and always the love that radiated between Bruce and Jeannie. Bob

Bruce and Jeannie - those names just go together and will for eternity in my mind. You are such a wonderful couple - outstanding in every way. Such amazing examples of a true son and daughter of God - always striving to living according to His will, and doing a fabulous job of it! Thank you for taking us under your wonderful wings and providing friendship and support in our short stay in Sunnyside. You are the bright spots in our lives, for certain. We love you both with all our hearts and will always do so. Thank you for being all we should all be!! Love you more than words express, Sue

Dear Ricks Family-
We loved Bishop Ricks so much. When we moved to Sunnyside we were unable to find an apartment to rent. We had exhausted all our options. We went to Bruce's office in the middle of the day and told him of our predicament and he sad, " I have an idea" and he dropped everything he was doing for work and drove us to the duplexes Booth's owned and Mr Booth happened to be there and said there was an apartment available that he hadn't advertised yet. We were able to rent it and it was such a wonderful, happy place for our family to be on the hill for that year. It was a miracle in our life and a great blessing for us. Bruce was an example of service and selfless dedication to the Lord. I'm sure it was a small thing to him, but it meant the world to us. We wish we could have been in Sunnyside today. Love to you all!

Very saddened by the passing of Bishop Ricks. May the Lord grant you the comfort needed during your time of sorrow. He will be truly missed by all of those who had the privilege and blessing to know him. Unforgettable he is. Always willing to listen, to love and comfort those who needed him. I was truly blessed to had been on the receiving end of the bounty of his love and generosity. There aren't enough words to describe the man with the million dollar smile. Much love to his family.

Back in 1983 Bruce was my priest quorum adviser. We were a handful. Bruce was the coolest adult I had met at that point. He taught, we listened because we knew he cared and loved us. What a positive impact and example he was for me! He even let me borrow his car for my senior prom. It was so cool it even had a telephone in it! (yeah back then it was very rare and very cool) What a legacy Bruce has left with the youth over the years. He was the ideal youth leader that I have tried to emulate in my life. Bruce you will be missed but your legacy lives on in the many lives you have touched.

I am SO sorry for you families loss. Bruce was a big part of my youth growing up in Ephrata. I have many fond memories of Bruce coming out to our farm and attending church together. I talked to my parents and they send their love!

Jeannie, We just wanted you to know how much we love you and Bruce, even though we haven't seen the two of you in decades. The world just won't be the same without him.

Bruce was my (Joleen's) favorite teacher when I was growing up. Whether it was Seminary or Sunday School it was always a good day when Bruce was teaching. I still remember his classes down in the dungeon where the furnace was at the old church in Ephrata. He truly had a gift.

Bruce was instrumental in getting Tom a sales job at House Laundry when we first got married. He was always supportive and encouraging, just a joy to be around.

Bruce always had a beaming smile on his face, a glint in his eye and he loved his wife! What a great man! Our prayers are with you and your family.

Our love,
Tom and Joleen (Wiser) Comstock

P.S. If you are ever travelling through Cedar City, UT we'd love to have you stop by or even stay with us.

Jeannie and family,

Thinking of you at this difficult time. I will always remember Bruce when we dug snow tunnels back in 1954 in Teton, Idaho. we were only 4 years old at the time. We had a lot of family vacations together with Aunt Donna and Uncle Lynn, Bruce and Barry back in the 1950's and 1960's. Bruce was 5 months older than me, and I have many fond memories of those trips. we did get in trouble a time or two! my sympathies are with you at this difficult time.

As I've always said, Bruce was the first "cool" adult I knew. Who didn't want to grow up and be as cool as Bruce Ricks? And his name is "Bruce"! Doesn't get cooler than that. Such a great man, such a great legacy! God bless you, Jeanie! And may your family alway appreciate how blessed they've been to be given Bruce as a father and friend!

That blooming Soul in every heart!
That Soul who was told to depart ?
Come home to me the LORD did say !
For I have great plans for you this very day ?
You have done your duty upon the Earth and within all of humanity.
For all the TRUTHS of Creation, Bruce you are going to be blessed to see!
Just another adventure per traveling of your Soul.
For with your avid Faith of the LORD, this you already know !
I have made a place for you with tender LOVE from this Heavenly setting,
I guarantee you Bruce, MY LOVE will never be relenting !
I have taken you away from your family for just a moment that may seem ever so long within the that earthly realm ?
For in Eternal splendor, I guarantee, your SOUL shall be overwhelmed ?

My heart is so heavy knowing Bruce is gone! What an example of love and happiness and joy in life! I will always remember his exuberance for life. As a young teenager I often babysat the five rambunctious Ricks kids. Bruce was always the designated driver to take me home. He would always take the long way home on Columbia so he could crank the music and drive fast in his BMW! I remember thinking how cool he was. Now I look back and admire his love of life. I am so glad his suffering is done but am so sad for the hole he has left. I've been praying today and thinking of all the Ricks family, and especially Jeanne. Know I will keep praying for you. My heart hurts for you. I love you all!
