My most sincere condolence to all of the Cervantes family. Sylvia, Norma, Benny and other children, one of the the most sweetest memories that I have of your mother, is when I finished my first year of college and came back home to work. I was employed by the Mabton School District as a Para and worked with your mom. She was a home visitor. She asked me to translate for her at a parent meeting and I remember being scared to death that my Spanish would not be good enough. She asked me a few things in Spanish and had me reply back to her in Spanish. She patted me on the back, chuckled and said "you'll be fine" and threw me in to translate! She was the sweetest co-worker and her and had lots of heart to hearts after that! I surely miss those "good old days" !!

We have very fond memories of Irene and will miss her greatly. She made the greatest meals and was a wonderful cook. She had such a caring, and loving way of making you feel part of her family whenever we were around her. We pray God will comfort the family in this time of sorrow.

Our family was saddened to hear of your Mom's passing. We have fond memories of her and her wonderful cooking. on our visits back to Washington we did get to see your Mom. She was always so bubbly. Now your parents along with Mom & Dad are probably up in heaven dancing away like the did when we were kids.

On behalf of all of us, we feel the loss of a wonderful lady whom I have the pleasure of calling my Tia Irene. I will never forget our trips from California to Mabton and we would stay at the small house with everyone sleeping everywhere. My Tia was always so hospitable to us kids and like my mom made the most awesomeness food on the planet. Everyone of us who knew her will carry a piece of her legacy in our lives. We loved her and will truly miss her. Now she is with Tio Benito.

We have wonderful memories of Irene starting from when we first met her during our dating/college years and having our first authentic, home cooked Mexican dinner in her house. I can still remember the taste and smell of those home made tortillas. Irene was always so gracious to us and seemed so pleased to see us on every visit to Mabton. Her quick laugh and warm smiles will not be forgotten, nor her yummy tortillas.
