Shiela Rose Clingan

Shiela Rose Clingan, 64, of Sunnyside, passed December 3rd, 2016 in Sunnyside. Shiela Rose was born January 30th, 1952 in Elk City, Kansas to Mary Ruth Blankenship and Elza Leroy Clingan. She was one of four siblings. Shiela was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ellis Flett, and her sibling, Elza Clingan. She was survived by her brothers, Greg and Billy, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Although Shiela had no kids of her own, she would open her heart and her door to anyone who asked. Shiela became a surrogate mother, grandmother, and aunt to any child who needed it. She often took her nieces and nephews swimming at the Sunnyside pool when they were children, and they recall getting a little jealous at the group of kids that would follow her around, wanting her to teach them how to swim. Shiela loved life and anything antique. She was an avid collector of antiques and glass and was also an excellent bowler and bowled regularly at Valley Lanes in Sunnyside.  There, she had a bowling team and a second family. She will be sorely missed by everyone there. Shiela was a social butterfly; she knew and spoke to everyone she could. She was known for starting conversations with random strangers just so she could get to know someone new. Shiela had a since of humor that was uniquely hers--making jokes that only a few could understand. If she wasn’t busy making new friends, she was cracking jokes and laughing at herself.  Shiela left everyone she knew with invaluable memories and a story to tell. She will live on in those memories and the stories she created. We know she is reunited with her beloved Ellis and mother, Mary.  This brings the family a lot of comfort. The Memorial Service will be on the 17th at 12:00 pm at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church: 327 E Edison Ave, Sunnyside, WA 98944 In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Yakima Valley Humane Society in her honor.  Those wishing to sign Shiela’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com
