For 20 years from 1992 through 2012, Mary guided the Hillcrest facility for Eagle Healthcare with a personal fervor, innovative spirit, and mentoring approach unparalleled in Washington's nursing home industry. As president and CEO of Eagle, I was truly privileged to work with Mary and consistently marveled at her tireless efforts.

As a friend, I thoroughly enjoyed our many conversations, and Wendy and I eagerly awaited her annual Christmas flower basket that adorned our dining room table during the season.

Last month I shared with Mary the news of the sudden death from a heart attack of our 33-year-old son, Justin, who had also worked with Mary as both a wellness program coordinator and a budding nursing home administrator at Eagle. Even in her final days, she comforted me with her assurance that she would not only pray for Justin's family but that she would be seeing Justin very soon. What a beautiful, selfless soul!

Godspeed, Mary!

Mary was a guide and mentor during my year as an Administrator in Training, 30 years ago! She has always been an inspiration. The world is a little darker without her bright smile. My condolences to her loved ones, you were blessed with her presence, and I know the hole left by her passing will be large. God bless and keep you.

Mary i will truly miss your witty sarcasm and loving hugs. Getting to know you through the Eagle to Prestige transition was such a blessing.....Oh the conversations we would have that always ended with " lets just do it and ask for forgiveness later." Marketing and community had a whole new meaning with you and I admire you for your commitment to the Skilled nursing industry.

My sympathies to Mary's family. I remember her from "old" Eagle Healthcare days when we had the Eden process starting in our building. She was a pioneer in getting that going in her Facility to enhance the lives of the Residents. Her absence will be keenly felt.

For the short time I got to know Mary while training at Sunnyside, I could see she was a compassionate and kind person. I enjoyed working with her and could see she put Residents first. God bless her and keep her.

I had the wonderful privilege of working with Mary for a very short time, but she left a deep impression on me. She was so kind and gracious while I work with her at the Sunnyside facility. She cared deeply for her staff and residents and it showed. Everyone just loved her so much. And a side note, she was one of the fastest typists I have ever known. She will be deeply missed.

When Mary Arthur came to Sunnyside- a ray of Sunshine and a ball of energy entered the community. She joined our Soroptimist club and became President shortly thereafter- organizing and structuring our Community Service Projects with great efficiency. Neil was by her side through her involvement and I really enjoyed their companionship and charity! Mary was a lady with a mission of good and she lived a great, rewarding life. My thoughts and prayers are with the family for the earthly world has lost a great one, but the Lord is by her side a little closer now and Neil is there too!

I will miss Mary, she was such a wonderful person. Mary came to work for Prestige in 2012, I work at the Central Support Office, and, so enjoyed getting to spend time with Mary either while she was here in Vancouver or in Sunnyside. I will never forget the time Mary sent me flowers, I could not figure out why, so I called her, and, she said we just appreciate your training so much, I felt so touched. Mary will be missed.

I read Angela's post and had to respond. Mary has been the only person to ever send me flowers at work. She must have sensed the trying days during month end close and the flowers reminded me that someone at work cared about me. She truly cared about everyone and wanted to let them know that "you are not alone in this." I never had the chance to meet her in person. But from one accountant to another, Mary, thank you. Thank you for caring.

My dear Mary, I will forever miss you. You and Theresa were great friends and you were a huge comfort to us when she passed away. You were my Godmother when I was baptized into the Catholic church and were present for my boys as well. I will miss our lunches and talks. You had a way of always lighting up the room with your presence. Rest if peace, my friend. Till we meet again......
