One fall, Jay and I were riding in the car with the windows down talking life, business, racing and family. As we passed a vineyard Jay said "you know Jason, the smell of the grapes this time of year must be, if I can even imagine it, this is what heaven smells like." He paused a moment and added "but if it doesn't, then i don't think I even want to go". We had a good laugh.
I hope they turned the smell up or something's getting moved to make room for some concord grapes.
Jay and his family are some of the finest people that my family has known. We are sorry for your loss. The world has lost a treasure.

Haley family, thanks for sharing Jay with us through the years. He watched three generations of Carpenters in sports at ole Granger High School. Growing up with his kids and grand kids, we cherish some of the Best of Times that will never be forgotten. We loved him and we love you guys. Going to miss that smile! Praying for His peace and presence through this difficult time.
