Michael "Mike" Ned Funk

Michael Ned “Mike” Funk age 55 of Wenatchee, WA formerly of Sunnyside WA and Spokane WA, passed away Monday May 23, 2016 in Wenatchee WA after a 7 year battle with brain cancer. Mike was born December 25, 1960 in Sunnyside WA. He graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1979. Mike continued his education at WSU, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. Mike began his business career with Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery and then became an independent business owner and entrepreneur. During this time, in 1987, Mike married his wife, Karlynn (Truscott) Funk. Together, they had two children, Boyd (26) and Morghan (20)

Boyd and Morghan were Mike’s pride and joy. Beside his children, Mike was happiest when he was hunting and fishing with family and friends. Some of his fondest memories were those at Curlew Lake and in Montana. Mike is survived by his wife, Karlynn of Wenatchee WA, both children Boyd Funk of Moses Lake, WA and Morghan Funk of Wenatchee, WA.  He is also survived by his parents Noble and Cassie Funk of Sunnyside, WA.  One sister Cathy Kelley (Mike) of Sunnyside, WA and two brothers Dale Funk of Zillah, WA and David Funk (Waylan) of Prosser, WA. Mike is also survived by his father-in-law, Don Truscott of Wenatchee, WA and numerous brother-in-laws, nephews, and nieces.

Mike is preceded in death by infant daughter Hunter Ann, Grandparents Ned and Catherine Giffen, Boyd and Della Funk and mother-in-law Phyliss Truscott.

A celebration of life for Mike will be held on Saturday June 4th 2016 at Snipes Mountain Brewery and Restaurant in Sunnyside from 2-4 pm. Please come in casual dress and share stories of Mike’s life.

In lieu of flowers, one can make a memorial contribution to any of the following; Alvord Brain Tumor Center at UWMC Seattle, WA,  Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and Mule Deer Foundation.
